Shantoley primary school in Ramu sub-county is one of the best schools in Mandera county both in the academic field, sports and drama. Yesterday,#WalkOfHope team paid them a courtesy visit and witnessed some of the challenges the school was facing that include shortage of space, inadequate infrastructure, shortage of teachers, lack of fencing, dilapidated roofing as a result of gun shots amongst others. The school was partially closed last year as a result of the clan clashes in the area. The headmaster house was torched and he is still an IDP. Despite all the obstacles, the teachers and students of this school chose to ignore the hindrances and moved forward. #walkofhope team were later entertained by the school drama team with beautiful and emotional traditional songs and poems. By appreciating the message, the team donated a goat and some groceries for the drama team weekend party. After our persuasive speech on the importance of education and the shortages of teachers in our counties, the following students promissed to undertake teaching courses after passing their O levels;
